What’s Your Alternative Currency?

We understand that if you’ve never done it before, giving away a gift instead of the traditional $ or % off offer may be intimidating. Not to worry, we have some tips. (If you haven’t read the main article in this newsletter edition yet on the power of using “alternative currencies”, you may want to go back and read that first.
It’s okay, we’ll wait).

Here’s some things to consider before you dive in.

1. An easy and effective way to start is to connect your giveaway to an event or holiday. As we mentioned, there are some great opportunities right around the corner that you can take advantage of such as Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.

2. Pick something that will appeal to your specific target market, which has a high perceived value and low cost. For Mother’s Day, you may want to consider giving away jewelry. And the Duct Tape giveaway is ALWAYS a hit for Father’s Day (Check out the Sales Boost insert for other options).

3. Order a small amount, which will add to the exclusivity. Your offer can even start with “only X number available. Don’t miss out!” (And don’t worry, all Premium Sales Boost postcards already have the disclaimer “Free gift available while supplies last.”)

4. Leftovers can be stored and used for a future giveaways or staff contest prizes.

Have something else in mind? We have several postcard options that are not item-specific that you can use to give away whatever you’d like! You may want to celebrate Car Care Month by giving away a Window Breaker Keychain or a Pet Seatbelt. If you live in a rainy area, you may want to offer umbrellas. Celebrating your anniversary? Give something that’s unique to your business. One merchant gave away an engraved pie serving knife! It’s up to you – the options are endless!
